The main idea of the project was to create a harbour bath framing the view of the sea, and creating a safe a shielded area perfect for stay, bathing and play. Outside the shielded area, there is room for boats and kayaks.

The harbour bath will be a place where interaction with water can take place in new and inspiring ways.  Everyone can enjoy the facilities, locals and tourist, young and old, winter bathers, sailors, kayakers etc. The many different activities will gather people throughout the day and during all seasons, and it will therefore become the new hotspot of the city!

The harbour bath is designed to be an extension of the beach park at the coast,  and will create a new connection between the city and the sea. Arriving from the sea, the harbour bath will frame the historical city

The harbour bath will create a new connection from the waterfront, through the cultural activities of the city and further on to Sundets exercise route, the Sund hills and the cultural landscape of southern Fyn.

Havnebadet is designed as a natural continuation of the beach park on land, and it forms a new unity and coherence between the city and the water. It will provide a framed view of the inlet seen from the historic city, as well as links from the port areas, through the city’s

cultural amenities and on to Sundets prizewinning exercise route Sundbakkerne and the South Fyn landscape. The total construction can be seen as a number of activity areas, located between the two main paths, continuing into the water, forming Pier East and Pier West.
