In connection to the renovation and extension of the old school at Duevej, in the middle of Frederiksberg, a new unifying school yard is planned. The school yard is a pilot project for Frederiksberg Municipality and Frederiksberg Forsyning to co-finance a climate adaption project.

Instead of leading the rainwater from the roof and surfaces into the sewer system, new water management solutions are designed. The terrain is design to withstand situations with extreme rain. The water will be directed towards Duevej, which will be re-designed to become a rainwater recipient. The design of the new school yard is a direct result of the need for rainwater managment, and the future design solutions inspire new learning and new activities.

The school yard opens up towards Duevej and will become a unifying space for local residents of the area, an active place during the day and evening. Many activities can take place in this new inviting landscape, and it is not only a place for play and physical activity, but also for

stay, reflection and learning. The organic shape is fresh and fun, but the materials, colours and programs match the beautiful old buildings. It is a respectful way of modernizing Duevej School.
