At Beethovensvej housing block renewal of the courtyard is combined with climate adaption. Rainwater will be handled above ground, the rooftop- and surface water is collected and led through open water channels into a system of green ditches and small ponds that frames the central green spaces.
The need for climate adaption is the starting point for our Beethovensvej project and the need for remodelling the terrain leads to a great transformation of the plain and uninspiring lawn areas and worn concrete paved areas. The result will be a lush and atmospheric courtyard fully utilized to make room for both play areas, picnic and hangout pockets, urban nature and rainwater storage. In addition to the ditches and ponds, we create small hills that are fun for the children and divides the courtyard into smaller areas. New quality materials are introduced, the most prominent one is a warm yellowed-toned brick pavement that replaces the worn-down concrete. The brick pavement compliments the yellow brick facades and like the facades, the pavement will age well and last for a long time.
