MASU HAS STARTED WORKING ON KRUUNUVUORI LANDSCAPE PLAN

Our Helsinki office has been actively working on Kruunuvuori landscape plan in Eastern Helsinki. Our task consists of creating a clear hierarchy of paths in a beautiful natural area of Kruunuvuori. We hope that this hierarchy will guide the visitors to consciously enjoy and experience the site while respecting and preserving other species – current inhabitants of this magnificent forest and pond.

In addition to the natural values, Kruunuvuori also has historical significance. The area was a home of several villas, sadly none of which has survived the course of time. Therefore, we aim to create a plan where the historical memory of these structures is strongly present so that visitors can be informed of the past while experiencing the current state of the landscape.

We have also studied the possibility to create a connection along the existing rock from the new urban neighbourhood centre to the natural area in the project. The overarching aim of this task has been to improve the connectivity of urban and natural areas as well as create an entirely new experience for the visitors – the ability to walk along the rock just above the sea, with breathtaking views over Helsinki.

This project has taken us on numerous inspiring site visits throughout the changing seasons. We have observed and learned a lot from the environment, historical remains and archival information. Today, with this announcement, we would like to share some of our visual observations alongside historical pictures with you.
