Gauthier Durey is appointed associate partner

As part of a strategic initiative, MASU Planning appoints Gauthier Durey as Associate Partner and Head of Planning.

Gauthier Durey has been part of MASU Planning since 2020, where his expertise in urban and regional planning, urban development, and strategic design has played a key role in numerous studio projects. He holds a degree in landscape architecture from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, as well as a master’s degree in architecture from ENSAM, the School of Architecture in Montpellier, France. As Associate Partner and Head of Planning, Gauthier Durey will be responsible for MASU Planning’s planning assignments and competition department.

Gauthier Durey is deeply committed to sustainability and has, among other projects, been responsible for MASU Planning’s contribution to the Danish Association of Architects’ and Dreyer Foundation’s idea competition Fingerplan 2.0 idea competition, where the studio achieved joint second place. In addition, he has been involved in several complex planning projects both in Denmark and abroad, including Rosendals Torv in Uppsala, the area around the main train station in Helsinki, and Lillehammer Art Museum.

The partner team at MASU Planning now consists of partners and owners Malin Blomqvist and Sune Oslev, along with Gauthier Durey as Associate Partner and Head of Planning. Additionally, Elina Kataja, Studio Manager of MASU Planning’s Helsinki office, is also part of the management team.

More Complex Projects Require Increased Focus on Leadership

Malin Blomqvist explains the reasoning behind the expansion of the partner team:

“Over the past few years, we have experienced a positive increase in projects, grown our team, and recently launched an extensive strategic initiative. The studio’s development creates a natural need to strengthen our project management, which is why we have appointed Gauthier Durey as Associate Partner. Over the past five years, Gauthier has proven to be the right person to lead our planning assignments and competition department, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration within a new organizational framework.”

Gauthier Durey is excited to take on his new role and states:

“Landscape architecture increasingly demonstrates its unique ability to develop holistic strategies that create the framework for a good life and climate adaptation, while also supporting nature. I look forward to continuing this work and developing MASU Planning’s planning practice together with my talented colleagues.”
